From Classroom to Newsroom: My Journalism Experience in Canada

From Classroom to Newsroom: My Journalism Experience in Canada

Last year, I had the incredible opportunity to spend a year in Canada as part of an exchange program. During this experience, I didn’t just discover a new culture and improve my English. I also worked on a fascinating project with my class: we explored the world of journalism and learned how news is created, written, and shared with the public.

At first, journalism seemed quite simple to me. I thought journalists only had to write articles and report facts. But very quickly, I realized that the process is much more complex and demanding. In class, we learned how to research information carefully, verify our sources, and build clear and engaging stories.

It was both challenging and exciting.

One of the most memorable moments was when we created our own small class newspaper. We had to choose topics, interview people, and write articles as if we were real journalists.

The experience was surprisingly intense but also incredibly rewarding. It taught me how important accuracy, curiosity, and creativity are in journalism.

Looking back, this experience completely changed the way I read the news today. I now understand how much effort and responsibility is behind every article. It also made me realize how powerful journalism can be in helping people understand the world around them.

Have you ever imagined what it would be like to work as a journalist for a day?
